POLITICIAN (theoretically)=
a person who loves his/her country so much that he/she is willing to try and make everyone and everything in it work together so that they will all be as happy as possible...
POLITICIAN (actually)=
Somebody who needs to eat at least a 5 course ?1000,- dinner before he/she can start working...

DEMOCRACY (theoretically)=
The possibility for every citizen of a country to help choose the right leaders so that all may live happy, peacefull and meaningfull lives...
DEMOCRACY (actually)=
A rather confusing means of keeping the balance of power and money firmly within the hands of the descendants of ancient megalomaniacs, landowners, and modern corporate giants...

MEDIA (theoretically)=
A harmless form of light entertainment as well as a provider of easily processed information for the masses.
MEDIA (actually)=
A means of selling expensive garbage while at the same time scaring people into believing that we constantly live on the edge of destruction , and that we really need to be protected by our ever watchfull government (see politics/democracy).

I have to go and vote again soon... (because the goverments in holland keep collapsing due to a bad case of "dickheads")
I had actually given up completely on voting as it doesn't really change anything. Untill I saw a campaign poster hanging with a picture of one of those expensive dutch fat-arsed parlimentary chairs on it....ripped to shreds!... with a cute little kitten sitting in it!
aha! thought I...these people have humour! I checked out their "program" and thought: "yes...this is something I can vote for"...
You see I want to vote for nature because I don't choose to expire because of somebody else's greed...

So now I am voting for the "Animal party" (partij van de dieren) ;-)
at least they seem to know what is most important to an eccentric pagan tree-hugger like me...
