This Friday, 9th January 2010, I bought an ESP/Ltd M10 pack with a nice flat black electric guitar, a 15W amp and some other accessories. On top of that, I also bought a Digitech Death Metal pedal to get some really heavier sounds. Before someone says that Black and Death Metal guitar sounds are completely different, I know that. Is just that I also listen Death Metal. The pedal has some knobs to adjust the sound and it is possible to get a higher pitch sound. Besides, there is always the distortion from the amp itself. I might also buy a Danelectro Fab Metal pedal. It's inexpensive and it has a great sound, more in line with the Black Metal kind of sound.
Anyway, I've been practicing at home. I have some guitar lessons I got from the internet and I already feel that I progressed a little.
I tried a little bit from an Amon Amarth song. I couldn't do almost anything when I started, but now I can (sort of) play that entire bit I had memorized from watching it on a video. :D It's still not easy, but at least the sound is recognizable. The song in itself is played on a guitar tuned to B [B E A D F# B], but who cares. I'm just starting, right? ;)
Right now, my left hand fingers are a little sored, but that's just the way it is.
I'm trying to practice every day, a few hours a day.
I'm very happy with the pack and pedal and for finally starting to play on a guitar. :)
