I have been asked to post this statement on behalf of a Bloodstock backstage crew member who saw what happened :
To set the record straight; Bloodstock; Paul was hit by a "jawbreaker gobstopper" which might as well have been a cricket ball, nearly as big, it’s as hard as a pool ball. He was obviously in real pain & looked like he could collapse. We called the medics immediately. As with any back damage he was strapped to the hard stretcher and taken for checks. Fortunately he was ok but he’s going to feel sore for some time. We all wish him well and a speedy recovery.
The idiot/s that threw the potentially lethal object had been throwing whole apples all day .We found at least a dozen under the risers.
The stage crew at Bloodstock work 15 hour shifts each day to make this event work, so anyone ruining our hard work is not needed at this festival ever.
