I found an interesting quote on the back of a Type O Negative album (2003's Life is Killing Me).
"If God were suddenly condemned to live the life which he has inflicted on men, he would kill himself" - Alexander Dumas

To me this quote speaks more about the dehuamanized corporate/comsumer nature of the world. it seems like nothing is meant to be enjoyed, just shat out, consumed, and on to the next fad. I think it's hard for people to be satisfied by anything when big business has been influencing us to view our lives as "consumers" rather than human beings.
