Of course I would like to own a copy of that book but I'm not sure if it's up my alley.  I've read the preview pages and it seems like a thorough understanding of CoF's influences but I don't know if that's my thing.  I'd rather hear more of a biography of Cradle than anything.

So, is it a good read, and how much of it is really about the band rather than mythology?

Yes!
It is really VERY much info on ALL sorts of things surrounding the band. It starts out a bit slow, but it is getting better and better. I can really recomend it! It is slightly difficult to read, because you have the main text, flanked by side notes of Dani and Quotes from all kinds of people. My personal favourite chapter so far was Cruelty and the beast- criminal chic. It is worth it! Trust me!

If you're only interested in band's history, seriously, you shouldn't buy it. There's not too much of it except Dani's chapter and some interesting facts. But 90% of the book is about CoF's influences, and if you're not interested in it, then you'll get bored very fast while reading this.
Virtually nothing is about the band, not even Dani's chapter. As for influences, do you need a book to tell you who blatantly influenced them? Obviously not. If you are a novelty collector for this band, sure buy it. If your looking or a bio and nothing more, well this book will be a disappointment. Really sucks we all waited years for this since most hoped or something that had nothing to do with this book. Furthermore I doubt any of us has the patience to wait another decade.
Thanks for the info, everyone. I see mixed oppinions some praising and some criticism. I think it will be a tie for me to get either The Gospel of Filth or Lords of Chaos, more oppinions would be appreciated though
I'm not criticing the book, I think it's really great, but you won't find too much about band in it. Criticizm comes from the ignorance of people who thought this book's gonna be some biography, and it was known from the beginning that it won't. But I see some people around here, like this guy above, are too lazy to read any informations before the book is being released.
Me or Scott?

Lords of Chaos = so bad, it's not even funny. Any self respecting BM fan would agree! :)
