Why do people love cradle of filth?

This is a genuine curiousity I have, which I would like sincere answers to.

I listened to Cradle of Filth for several years until recently when I converted to Christianity. I found I was no longer interested in music and stopped listening, especially to my black metal collection. Previously I had been absolutely obsessed with cof, and owned all of the old stuff and most of the newer stuff. I breathed it, I was as dedicated a fan as you would ever find. I even bought the special edition Gospel of Filth.

However, recently for whatever reason I decided to dust off Peace Through Superior Firepower. I still like (most) of it... despite the fact that the dark undertones intrinsically clash with the spirituality I now possess.
What is it about cof's music that is so enthralling? Specifically Her Ghost in the Fog, Nymphetamine, A Gothic Romance, Funeral in Carpathia...
Objectively I would argue that the musical talent is not the best. However, the way it is manipulated and mixed is wonderful. The lyrics are enchanting. What does this music stir within our souls?
I can't put my finger on it..
Any ideas?

What is the point in offending religious people? I am a Christian, and it does not offend me at all. Because I know that it is meant to! And because it is simply an illogical statement... Really I just laugh at the "oh look at us, we're OUTRAGEOUS" mentality.

No there isn't! ALL religions are man made inventions for control! The only difference between Scientology and Christianity is time! Nothing more than mass brainwashing of the weak minded!

Apparently you haven't seen the latest Ghost Adventures episode then. If you have 40 minutes of your time, I will show it to you and after watching it, you yourself will know there is an after-life.

And so there isn't really a Middle Earth then? MORDOR DOESN'T EXIST?!?

Ghost Adventures is FAKE!!!!! LOL The whole show is staged LOL! It's called entertainment! Its as real as an episode of Smallville! Theres a reason all these Ghost shows failed in Europe! We're far too intelligent to believe such garbage!

Of course there is no Mordor or Middle Earth! It's fiction!
