Who plays the older songs better live?

It can be any member for old to new.

 

 Yes This may not be the best topic, but this forum has gone alittle stale.

 

 

Any ways opinions please! :)

The members that wrote the song plays it better all the time...

 

So Cruelty line-up plays the Cruelty songs the best..

The Dusk line-up plays the Dusk songs the best..

etc.

Uh, the first video is 1998, not 1996. But, I guess it doesn't matter since the only difference is the keyboardist. Anyway, the Dusk/Cruelty lineup plays that song 100x better than the Midian and on lineup's. Just look at how much there into it at the end of the song, and then look at recent 2010 videos of the song and they are hardly moving.

I love that video, wtf is Dani saying at around 3:30ish? That isn't part of the song? He like made up lyrics to the song?

Hard to say, I have only seen them with the line up they were having since 2006. So can't say much about that.

It is also an odd question, because everyone playing an instrument can learn to play any song, old or new, I suppose...

I guess so, yes. But that still should make every musician be able to make the songs sound as they're supposed to sound if you know what I mean.

With older members leaving/being fired from the band they take with them their own personal guitar settings and way of playing the songs. In the case of members who were fired, with them they took the tabs for the songs, so the band would have to work the songs out by ear later on. There will be differences for sure.

 

The best line up for the old songs was the 1995-1998 line up. After that the most noticable difference was the loss of Nick, a very technical death metal style drummer, who was replaced by two sloppier sounding thrash metal style drummers in the shape of Dave and Adrian.

I thought Adrian actually played the older material quiet well if almost better. Martin seems to play it worse.

I agree.  Martin not only changes up the parts (either he cant play that good, or he foolishly writes crappier riffs over good ones) but has never shown so far he can play the older difficult pieces Adrian and Nick wrote or played live.  I wish someone would show me him playing Queen of Winter, Throned, or what not.
