His drums aren't very memorable because he's doing too many accents and flutters, he doesn't concentrate on actually using his drums effectively to fit with the atmosphere of the songs.
Nick had every bit the ability that Marthus does but he used it sparingly, when he used those accents and suchlike he used them effectively and when they came out of the songs they struck you. He knew when to be slow and brooding, fast and savage, heavy and powerfull and techical and complicated.
