I missed them on the last one. Does anybody have an idea when they are coming back?

Hardly? They tour the U.K. more than anywhere!
They are playing Bloodstock UK in August.
Amy's right. They've done 2 shows in the UK since Godspeed came out and that's it.

And supposedly they're not doing any shows here this year except Bloodstock, which is a festival. However, they've done countless dates in America and around Europe, many dates in Australia and now they're planning a second US tour? Come on, that ain't right.
Yeah, but that would be recently. Historically everyone but Europe has had only a handful of tours. Think they been to Australia 2-3 times? They didn't even tour U.S.A. until 2001 ( I think, maybe 1999 earliest). Even then they wouldn't even come once a year. I think literally they have done five tours in U.S.A, so when you look at that fact they done hundreds of shows in there homeland, an only a fraction of that elsewhere, its laughable to see someone comment that. Try being away from U.K. and having to wait a year or two, or longer. At least in Europe/U.K. they do multiple shows sometimes in a month sporadically. They also will do two tours usually leaving/returning back to Europe. We get for the first time two tours in one year this year, and thats like a miracle after hmm.....15 years!

Yeah, it must really suck for people in Australia and various other countries ... but England is their HOME country, and we are the fans that made them the biggest British metal act since Iron Maiden, before you Americans had really even heard of them.

They didn't tour the US before 2001 because there was no real demand for them there. Since Nymphetamine, and since Dani met Bam and got a whole load of promotion over there, they have been touring the US more and more frequently, and touring their home country less and less. In the past year, there have been 2 shows on English soil, and it looks like there will only be one more to come anytime soon. Now, count how many shows there have been in America this year already, regardless of the upcoming US tour.

Funny, no American demand? Hmm, I know that everyone I knew in America that liked CoF, found out about them during the Dusk an Her Embrace album. They did three tours here which was about a five year gap, before Bam ever mentioned them on his show. Yes a CoF song was on the cKy videos, but that was ALSO after they done those three tours.

As for the new wave of fans from Nymphetamine onward, yeah thats MTV for you. Funny thing is I first saw CoF on VH1 (Europe)...Dusk and Her Embrace.

As for them being the biggest behind Iron Maiden thanks to the U.K. LOL...if you say so. The world will let you believe that, cause your not going to think otherwise. But thats ok, you can be proud of your fellow countrymen. They became the second biggest due to the rest of the world. They never gained that position with U.K. alone. That goes for all the rest of the bands that come from the U.K. They break out to become who they are by doing things outside of the U.K.

Besides, you know something very wrong in the U.K. when bands must survive by going elsewhere to make a living. Can't say they do, you see bands like Muse that can sustain incredible financial success of the U.K. alone. Even Dani himself has commented this, mentioning how such bands like Bullet For My Valentine, is the flavor of the month there an all those other Emo bands he despises.
I may be wrong about their American demand, but surely they would have gone to the states if there was such high demand for them back in the Dusk days?

And if it hadn't been for their UK fanbase, then I don't think they would be the biggest metal act behind Iron Maiden. The English metal scene as a whole used to be RABID about Cradle of Filth. There was a time, in the 90s, when you could proudly say to any metalhead that you were a Cradle fan. After Damnation and a Day, it seems that they are somewhat reviled within the metal community, but nevertheless. I think that tag of "biggest metal act from the UK after Maiden" was given to them around the Cruelty and the Beast era, when they only toured Europe ... so I think we played a pretty big part in it. If we hadn't embraced them, they never would have got started, put it that way.

As for bands like Muse who can financially sustain in the UK alone ... even though I don't think that's true ... that's because they make far more accessible music. Bands like Cradle are hated by most people in this country, whereas Muse make radio-friendly tunes (good ones, too). You won't find Cradle playing Wembley Arena, put it that way.

Anyways, my point is, they came from the UK, they still have a big fanbase here and EVERYthing about the band is very ... British. The force that influences the band thematically and lyrically is England. The American fanbase seems predominantly made up of the little fangirls or the twat wearing a Thornography T-shirt backwards, yet the English fans still seem to grasp what really makes Cradle great ... I just don't know why they seem to favour America over their homeland in recent years.

There is video footage of CoF Live @ Old Wembley Stadium on the Left Handed and Candid DVD. You can clearly hear Dani Filth saying...

"Greetings Wembley, we are Cradle of Filth".

And you can clearly see the vast stadium in the darkness.

Many bands avoid touring the states simply cause of Immigration before or after 911 and its just way to expensive unless you have the backing of a record label company which CoF did not have to fund such a financial venture. Simply means this would come out of there pocket. Same goes for the Black Metal scene for the longest time. Hell...Dimmu Borgir beat CoF to the states of all things. You will again hear Dani say many times...

"We pick and choose our tours, etc etc".

Said it on there DVD's along with interviews on Youtube. He has also mentioned a few times that they don't ultimately do this for the money (the touring) which tends to be how most bands make there profit and payback there labels. Many recording artist earn at best $1.00-$4.00 U.S. Dollars per album sold, some not even a dollar! That alone is why so many take up online sales cause they can market this effectively with higher net gains. Another reason for this is them avoiding these very labels and sticking to a DIY like business management. A lot of bands just lay down tracks on record, and thats it. CoF overseas the entire production to there approval. There second under Iron Maiden (another commercial juggernaut) because there equally smart business men as well as musicians.

Funny you mention Damnation and a Day....cause a lot of people got there panties/knickers in a bunch/knot when they signed on with Sony/Epic to produce that album. Again, the funding that label provided is why you had a HUGE live orchestra for once (never before done I recall in the Black Metal world to my knowledge at the scale they provided). Hell that venture with Martin and Dani to me is one of the biggest accomplishments recorded in there band's history. But, they steered away from such labels/distributors like Music for Nations, Cacophony, etc etc. and seemingly got shit on for it (like Metallica, but for different reasons). Do note, after that album they broke away from Sony which is a bold and proud move to show we don't need a media giant to do what we do and do it well. Fans care, nah....but oh well, there loss.

Biggest Metal Band Title is arguable. Guess it depends on how its judged. I take it again from a statistical and financial angel on this one. But thats my opinion. With that said they really started cashing in (from what I gathered and read) starting Midian which I believe was 2000? Could be wrong I hadn't checked the date in forever and didn't as I posted.

Funny you guys got to embrace Cradle of Filth, we had Manson....(hangs head in shame). Thanks to the U.K. for putting out quality cause the list of bands born around this era thereafter have diminished rapidly in the U.S.A. (my opinion).
