Well I have to say fetus of a new day kicking because its what theyre like these days. Not my favorite song but when I think of COF right now its the 1st song that sums them up going over toward mainstream and all that shit.
It's fairly hard to say since the band has changed so much (several times over), but I guess the song which represents all the best aspects of Cradle (in my opinion) would be "The Rape And Ruin Of Angels" (which just so happens to be amongst my favourites too). It's very underrated, extremely rarely played live, but it covers pretty much every element that we love the band for.
It has the heavy-as-fuck thrashy parts, accompanied by creepy and ominous passages and eventually seguing into sublime, almost melancholic, orchestral verses. I'd say the only other Cradle song with an equally broad range would be "Queen of Winter, Throned", but it gets a tad repetitive at some points - despite being an awesome song, I rarely listen to the entire thing anymore, whereas "Rape and Ruin" is far more diverse in my opinion.
However, I also think "From The Cradle To Enslave" may actually represent all of the band's eras the best, because it has the modern twinge to it which was eventually adopted for albums like Midian, Nymphetamine and Thornography in their later days, as well as maintaining their trademark sound to an extent. So I'd have to say that one, actually.

I stick by my claim that From The Cradle To Enslave does sum them up the best - recorded bang in the middle of their career, it encompasses everything from the past, and hints towards what would come in the future.
