For a pretty long time, Cradle was everything I heard (after departing from the way too symphonic and emotional Nightwish). But lately, I have found a curious interest in Dark Funeral. To me, they simply sounds better than all the other black metal bands out there (Gorgoroth, Marduk, Mayhem, ...). Dimmu Borgir, to me, would rather classify as melodic black, if black at all. Uhm... We aren't really in the position to get in arguments about genres of metal bands, though, are we?
(I am also not sure if this is the right section for this thread.)

Fuck, I've heard so much metal and purchased so many albums that I enjoyed that I couldn't possibly make a full list. Recently my personal tastes have been leaning towards Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Pantera and Motley Crue. I've kind of stepped away from the black metal in recent years as I've worn myself out on the music.

fair enough man what ever floats your boat. Personally I like: Cradle of Filth (obviously) Dimmu Borgir, Lamb of God, Arch Enemy. But I don't really like Arch Enemy anymore, like they used to be my favorite band but then i discoverd COF and i was like this is fucking awesome!!! Then COF led me to Dimmu Borgir.

I'm into Blind Guardian, Bal-Sagoth, Mercenary (the Danish one), Cradle of Filth (as I should be, being on this forum), and Emperor.
Blind Guardian has fantastic vocal melodies and, like any good power metal, gives a sense of power to the listener. Bal-Sagoth render stunning, triumphant symphonic music. Mercenary, I suppose, may be what Slipknot would be had they been a melodic death metal band. Perhaps saying that would turn some away, who knows. Cradle of Filth and Emperor both write great riffs, have very good lyrics, and are enswathed in beautiful symphonics.
