What album got you into Cradle of Filth? Your holy fuck moment

As a cradle fan i really wish i would have gotten in to cradle during there first album. But being American (and only 13) i got into them during the midian album. It was the most memorable day of my life i walked by and at the time there was mtv x which played metal videos and i seen the video for her ghost in the fog. And the only thing i could think was holy fuck there's music like this. So it was off to the internet i went to find out as much as i could about this great band.

I was a relative late-comer to them, sadly. I got into them when I was 17, around the time Thornography would have come out, but the first song of theirs that I properly heard was From The Cradle To Enslave, accompanied by the uncut video. Nice! But it was actually when I searched for the lyrics that I really realised their true genius and that I'd really stumbled upon something special. Being a fan of the Youtube generation, it wasn't really a particular album that got me into them, just various songs that I'd listen to. Of course, hearing them in context of the album itself is a whole new experience, and I think Cruelty and The Beast was the first album I listened to from start to finish.

And just over a year later, I've got every album, know many of their lyrics off by heart, know virtually all the history there is about the band, watched every interview and I'd consider myself to be one of their biggest fans (as much as it pains me to say it). They've also sparked an interest in Gothic novels and mythology ... far more than the music those who say "it's just noise" listen to has ever done for them, I believe! ("The video for Promiscuous Girl taught me how to act like a slut in the club!")
to me it was thornography
Ive loved cradle of filth for a long time but before a certain moment which I will explain in a moment, I had not ever had a favorite band. I always just liked them all. My holy fuck moment was when i started listening to the thornography album, where dare I say it for a lack of modesty, I quite literally gizzed my pants. xD Amazing album, the music was extraordinary and beautiful, and I just loved it all.
hahaha, ya for sure its a good song, its got kind of a happy flow to it

Damnation and A Day. Hurt and Virtue. Got a musical orgasm, pretty much my eyes peeled open and I jizzed in my pants.

OMFG you liked Thornography! There are like a dozen of us here, and everyone thinks we're stupid. Only we know the truth: that we've more refined tastes than the average fan. ;)

Haha, yes. ;)
Okay, I said this before but here goes again:

I first heard From the Cradle to Enslave, which I really liked. Bought the EP and liked it, but my attention wandered. I always was like "Hmm, I should listen to that Cradle band again," but never got around to exploring much.

Then I became an enormous Hellraiser fan early this year and someone mentioned Doug Bradley's narration on Godspeed (I was vaguely aware he'd done narration for COF before but didn't know he does it often) and I thought "I should really check that out, I remember liking them," came to this site and heard Midnight Shadows Crawl to Darken Counsel with Life and Honey and Sulphur and just went "fucking WOW, this is awesome!" and bought Godspeed and loved it and eagerly went looking for more.

so here I am. :) hi!
Dusk and Cruelty~
I heard both on the same day when I was in high school and I was hooked!
I think its more because a lot of metal fans arent used to classical influences in hard music. I call it opera-metal. Big fan.I dont need screaming to hear words, i dont need lyrics to listen to the story.

Hmm... nooo. Many metallists appreciate Mozart, Bach, or for example, Richard Wagner. At least I do... but I'm not a metalhead. They dislike "Thornography" because they believe it is a mainstream album.
I have to disagree with that, because i think In generality that most metal fans dont like classical.

But I can kind of see how people whould see it as mainstream. I dont think it is, I like all of CoF's music; thornography just happens to be my favorite album. So far.
