Hello, I'm new here on Cradle of Filth so please do not mock me okay? I've heard the song 'The Death of Love' (My absolute favourate by the way). I was wondering. What is it Dani shouts in between several verses. For example. "Prophecies and glory forge a massive disdain...(Unknown word)...For lying passive in the shadow while the enemy reigns". What is that word? And what does it mean?
Thank you for your time.

I agree, I have asked Dani Filth on his profile. Left him a comment, I'll let you people know what the Lord of Filth has to say if I am lucky he replies.

The better question would be if it actually matters. Sure, if any metal band, then Cradle is the one one should have a closer look on the lyrics. But as the grammar and content both make perfect sense as they are, that word, given that it is not just a nice growl, seems of lesser importance.
To me, it is much more frustrating that nobody seems to know what "Feriluce" (as appeared twice on "Damnation and a Day") is, although this may have been discussed here before. It might be an anagram of "Lucifer"...
The unknown word is actually "la pucelle", it's French and means "virgin". As many of you know, Jeanne d'Arc had a nickname called "la pucelle d'Orlèans", the virgin of Orleans.
Oh and sorry for bringing an ancient thread back to life, but I'm a lyric freak and just couldn't resist...
Thanks!

Not a problem, glad I could help! :)
I personally love that scream, the fact that it's in French it gives a new depth to it, like it's coming from Gilles de Rais himself.
That’s interesting and good to know. Thanks for sharing, will update my lyrics right away!
