The new issue of Decibel Magazine has honored Cradle of Filth landmark The Principle of Evil Made Flesh debut album as the latest inductee into its exclusive “Hall of Fame” series. The feature is a seven-page, 5500-word, in-depth look at the album, providing an intimate, insider’s view of one of the most important records in the metal canon. The story includes, rare never-before-seen Cradle images and new interviews with ALL SIX Cradle members who participated in the making of The Principle of Evil Made Flesh and well as bonus interviews with former Anathema/The Blood Divine frontman Darren White and former Cacophonous Records label head Frater Nihil. Furthermore, there are quite a few "Jesus is a Cunt" shirts, the one you're talking about is the "Black Goddess Rises" longsleeve from '93 (not to be confused with the "Black Goddess" longsleeve from '96).
The one following these was probably the original "Vestal Masturbation", or some "Supreme Vampyric Evil" from '94.

So, the very first 3 shirts ever published by CoF were...
1. Loathsome Fucking Christ
2. Fuck Your God (TFD on the front)
3. Jesus Is A Cunt
Am I right?
Permalink Reply by Final on July 6, 2011 at 2:09 The second "Fuck Your God" has one sleeve with red symbols and one with white ones. All the pictures of "Fuck Your God" I've found on the web show this edition. The first one has the same sleeve with the white symbols but white text on the other sleeve. I think GRU has a picture of that one...
The second question actually left me puzzled... The first "Jesus is a Cunt" shirt is certainly the "Black Goddess Rises", but the first "Vestal Masturbation"...? I thought the first one was the shirt I linked to in the previous post, but considering that Toni holding a candle is supposed to be on it, that can't be true.

What's the difference between the two Fuck Your God shirts?
And can someone confirm what is the very first original Jesus Is A Cunt shirt? And maybe have a picture of front and back of it?

I'm pretty sure Paul would prefer the newer stuff he's created over Principle... or maybe not I could be wrong. Why? Because it's were they ended up and not where they started.

Permalink Reply by Final on July 7, 2011 at 22:14 Well I am sure he has visions of where he wants to go and what would make an amazing album, I mean he always seems to say that the new album is their best one yet.lol

Permalink Reply by Lifestalker on July 8, 2011 at 16:32 Yeah this could be true, but then again...
I doubt it ever goes like...
Interviewer: So Paul how is the new album?
Paul A.: Uggghhh it's complete shit. It's definately not the best, Dusk was way better than this new material I wrote. It's going to be completely garbage.
Interviewer: So Paul what's your favorite Cradle album?
Paul A.: Well that's a tough one really. I'd have to say none of them, they all sound rediculous. I am so embarrassed of all the things I did in writing songs throughout our history. Yeah it really sucks.

As I indirectly stated before; I'm pretty sure this is, at least in parts, caused by the simple idea of making profit. No album's gonna sell well if the musicians say it's far worse than their last one.

Permalink Reply by Frater Nihil on July 9, 2011 at 12:01 I'll have to dig them out at some point, but I think the shirts were:
1) Christ Pictures and logo / Loathsome Fucking Christ: white longsleeve (I think some were coloured also) ~ I believe 50 were made.
2) Total Fucking Darkness / Fuck Your God: black longsleeve ~ I think there's 100
3) The Black Goddess Rises / Jesus Is A Cunt: black longsleeve ~ I think 200 printed, 100 in 1993, 100 in 1994 but maybe 150 in 1994 I can't remember for sure - There are loads of fakes of this, made by Metal Headz (who we sold 10 to and then they bootlegged it), you can tell by the arm prints.
4) The Principle... / Supreme Vampyric Evil: Black T-Shirt & Longsleeve, there's a fair few hundred of each of these, being the 'label shirt'.
The Supreme Vampyric Evil shirt in previous post is a bootleg, as the SVE phrase was used on the Cacophonous shirt, and the picture of Paul was to be used on a 'Nocturnal Supremacy' shirt.

I think you got this wrong. The 'Fuck Your God' longsleeve has different colors on the two sleeves, one sleeve red and one white. That's the only version there is that I am aware of. If you got any pictures of the shirt in two version splease do post but I don't think it exist.

Thanks for some great info. The Loathsome Fucking Christ was printed on white and grey shirts, don't know how many of each though.
Do you know what differs on the sleeves from the original 'The Black Goddess Rises' shirts to the fakes you mention?
The ones I own, both Black Goddess and Fuck Your God, was bought on the Liverpool Royal Court show in 1993 but it's always good to know what to look for.
Back to the topic I just finished reading the Decibel article, great one. Wish it would have been a little bit longer but a really nice read. I have experienced similar magic once in my life, brings back a lot of memories.
