"We are putting the finishing touches on an orchestral
album that we have been working on called Midnight and the
Labyrinth. It is basically tracks from our first four records but
just done as purely orchestral. It is like soundtrack music and it is
really cool." - Dani Filth.
Dani's Blog 14-11-2010
"The forthcoming COF orchestral album (entitled Midnight In The Labyrinth) I briefly mentioned sometime before, has been re-visited, with a studio date of December the 5th set for big choirs to be added to the haunting melee. All songs will be fully orchestrated akin to a horror movie soundtrack (think Danny Elfman, John Williams, Christopher Young etc) and are comprised solely of tracks from our first four releases ( a la Principle, Vempire, Dusk and Cruelty), 'Funeral In Carpathia' being my favourite conversion thus far."
- Lord Filth-formally Count Backwerdz.
The Gauntlet 15-10-2010: Will Midnight in the Labyrinth be done with a full orchestra or just the band?
Dani:It is a mixture. Most of it is recorded. We just need to add some choir and female vocals for narrations. It will be a mixture of us and a orchestral though. We are also going to add some cello. We need more cello in there for that deep resonating. We hope to finish it all off. It won't be every bodies cup of tea. We might have an exclusive bonus track on their with guns blazing and all. This won’t be elevator music though.
Paul: “It’s basically we’ve taken some songs off the first four albums and turned them into orchestral pieces,” he tells me. “No guitars, no drums, no vocals…nothing. Just pure orchestral stuff.” Two of the songs getting the orchestral treatment: Summer Dying Fast and Funeral in Carpathia.”
Were the songs on Midnight Labyrinth chosen because they translated more readily into orchestral versions? Or were they simply the band’s favorite tracks?
Paul:Well, they were mainly chosen because we liked ‘em and a lot of fans are really into those albums. And also it just kinda made sense to try and revive that type of thing but in orchestral [style]. Because we can’t go around and do another cover utilizing a full band so we decided to do orchestral versions of all them songs. And they worked really, really well; I’m really chuffed with them.

Permalink Reply by Curious Orange on May 18, 2012 at 15:47 Hey all, found some more MITL mixes with the original songs:
The guy's done the other tracks too, I think. Gets a bit messy in places with the rhythm and overlapping vocals, but I think Cruelty worked pretty well. Quite liked the Rape and Ruin of Angels too.
Permalink Reply by mrpanoff on May 19, 2012 at 14:15 This is not even funny. It sounds like a guy with an old Korg Triton (nothing bad towards Korg)+ a choral sound library from a decade ago. Some harmonies are crucified badly.
MPArseFace138 (Martin Powell) should definitely get to hear this. He will then take pity on Cradle and return.
Permalink Reply by Dietr VM on May 23, 2012 at 16:23 I'm busy with it, thanks for sharing it on this site by the way ;). The Twisted Nails of Faith and Rape and Ruin of Angels are coming online in a minute. After those I'll work on 'Dusk and Her Embrace', 'The Forrest Whipsers My Name' and maybe 'Funeral in Carpathia' if I have enough time, which wasn't the case in the period between now and the first video. But at least 2 more vids will come online this weekend :)
