I've had my lip done twice, and yeah the piercing itself doesn't hurt too bad.

What really sucks is the healing period.

My most painful was the eyebrow, but that's mainly because it was done by some weird Russian dude who claimed he knew how to do piercings, but really didn't. So I was sat on a church bench with this dude trying to force a 1.8mm piercing into a needle-thin hole for about an hour. That fucking sucked.

Where on the lip did you get it and did they give you a ring or a stud?
I don't have any piercings (except ears but they aren't real piercings and I don't even wear earrings most of the time) and I don't like them in general (ears are ok but not if they're pierced full). My sister has nose, tongue and lip piercing and she said nose piercing was most painful. Tongue was just annoying to get when you have reflex to pull your tongue back into the mouth.

And to add, my sister took the lip piercing out since it was annoying her teeth and gums (she had studs mostly).
used to have my eye done..I never got it re-pierced with a bigger gauge though so it just ended up pushing my ring out and closing.. I let a girl tattoo my back and it was only her second tat..now that was fucking painful...when her boyfriend (the shop owner) got on me it fucking felt like a massage..then she got back on me and it was back to the torture.. she did a good job though and it only cost me 10 bucks..
I've had my nose pierced like ... 7 times. No joke, but each time they end up just going wrong after a few months, so I've given up now.

However, for me it wasn't too painful, just makes your eyes water.

It's because of the nerves and my nose hurts even when cosmetologist gets too close of it. But would imagine tongue would hurt more since biting it hurts like hell.
Yep. I never got it done for that reason.

Supposedly the piercing itself is quite painless, but for the next week or two it's agony to eat anything.

My sister had to learn how to speak normally again after it. So I think the recovering part is worse with piercings than the actual making of it.
i want my nose done as well but i don't know weather to
Go for it, dude. It's easier to take care of than a lip piercing. Just try not to forget it's there and scratch it by accident, I did that. Fuckin' hurts whilst it's healing.

You didn't answer my question about whether you got a ring or stud for your lip and where on your lip is it (center, side or upper lip)

i got it done in the center thay put a stud in to begin with but i'm getting a ring like dani
Be thankful they put a stud in, dude. So much easier to heal it that way.

Both times I got mine done I got a ring put in it straightaway because my piercer charged an extra £10 for a stud (no idea why). And becuase the lip swells up during healing, they have to put an extra large ring in which fucking sucks! In the picture of me with Alexi Laiho on my profile, you can see one of these large rings from the second time I got it pierced. Once you can put jewellery in which you like, it's all good though.

Remember to wait at least 3 or 4 weeks, preferably longer, before changing it. Go to your piercer to get it changed too, they'll usually do it for free (or you may just have to pay for the jewellery itself). Rings and studs both have their pros and cons. Studs are definitely "easier" to wear, and you barely notice them, unlike rings (which also make a clinking noise whenever you drink from a glass which gets annoying), but rings do look cooler =)

Anyways, enjoy it! Remember to keep it clean (but don't overclean it)
