Just though I'd make a discussion on what was your most recent film you've seen.. and then you guys could maybe type a brief plot line of the movie and then give your review, on how good you thought the movie was.
Transformers : Dark Of The Moon = Best Movie Of 2011
That's all I have to say..
I suggest ALL of you to see it...
Even better than the blockbuster hit Battle : Los Angeles ;)

The movie shows how a relationship between a vampire and a mortal should be. It was a lot more realistic than many vampire movies I've seen in recent years.
I didn't know there was a swedish version. I'm assuming this means the US version is a remake then.
I just finished watching the Evermore Darkly DVD. I really loved it. I just wish they were able to add the orchestral feeling to the live shows. That would be amazing.
Permalink Reply by Psychoscot on June 6, 2012 at 18:32 Yes it's a remake of a popular cult movie that fans wished had been left alone and never remade as the original was only made in 2008, they remade it as the bulk of American's are stupid and won't watch a film with subtitles. They hired a good director and great cast and stuck more closely to the feel of the book than the original Swedish version did. The Swedish version is superb but for my tastes as a fan of the book I prefer the US version

Last night I watched a movie called Martyrs. Holy shit! That movie is really messed up. It's a great film though. If you guys haven't seen it I highly suggest it. It's a French film but you can find it either dubbed in English or with English subtitles.

Permalink Reply by Psychoscot on June 6, 2012 at 19:15 The Swedish version was such a hit with European Horror fans and was praised by critics that the Americans moved in and started planning a US version within 6 months. Difference being the Books Author was also involved in the US version which is almost unheard of. Hence while most remakes are poor relations to many originals, this was on an equal pairing with the Swedish version.
I liked Martyrs, not a bad movie, if you like that try Baise-Moi! Very nasty little French film that was banned many places. What happens when 2 girls have had enough of violent male dominated society! Think Thelma and Louise with hard porn scenes and brutal violence! Brilliant film!

Permalink Reply by Psychoscot on June 6, 2012 at 20:31 Simple....MONEY! Plus some remakes are better than the originals due to time spent, money etc.
I prefer the US to the Swedish version by MILES! Chloe Moretz stole the whole franchise as the vampire! Simply brilliant little actress!
The Fincher version of Girl With The Dragon Tattoo was also far superior in every way to the Swedish version. Rooney Mara should have been best actress at the Oscars "She was nominated" She was utterly spellbinding you couldn't help but fall for her, something that was missing from the original. Although making the further 2 films they can actually call them originals, as the follow up's were made for TV only and weren't actually films due to the poor performance of the first they couldn't afford to release the others as cinema movies.
It's very simple, around 85% of Western Cinema goers won't go and see a subtitled film! So they are remade. In some cases such as GWTDT or LMI they got lucky and got 2 brilliant directors and superb casts, the results were in most peoples opinions better. But for those 2 there are hundreds of crap remakes. If Directors don't want their film remade then film it in English, but even that won't help if the film comes from a comic or book as it just begs to be remade again and again and again!
If it comes from a book the Author gets paid! He/She makes money every time they film a new version! Whether the last version was brilliant is irrelevant. Just look at the remakes coming this year alone
Robocop, Total Recall, The Crow, Hellraiser, all classic movies that don't need a remake. Unfortunately the younger generation on mass won't watch older films so a remake brings that character back for a new audience.
Yes personally I think they should see the original and I have no tolerance or respect for anyone that makes a judgement on a remake without first seeing it and the original! Then deciding!

Permalink Reply by Derek Talisman on June 6, 2012 at 20:40 "Night of the Demons" (unrated/uncut) was the last movie I saw. This weird/spooky babe named Angela is throwing a party at the infamous Hull House, and we, the viewers, are invited. "It's going to be one Hell of a party!"
The movie was okay, and it's from the 80's. I first saw it's sequel, "Night of the Demons 2" on HBO when I was a teen and I thought it was awesome. I liked that the characters in the story were at a Catholic boarding school.
"Night of the Demons" features gore, and gratuitious nudity.
Before "NotD" I saw "Chernobyl Diaries". These folks take an "extreme tour" of Chernobyl, Russia. They have the time of their lives and live happily ever after.

I liked it, very good effects. Uma Thurman as Medusa was the best.
Permalink Reply by LivingDeadGirl on June 6, 2012 at 22:38 I remember Night of the Demons! I watch a lot of 80's horror films. I love how cheesy and cliche they are. It's just so amusing even if they are really bad. Have you seen Dead Alive? That is one of my favorites. It was made in 1991 I believe by Peter Jackson who also did Lord of the Rings.
I have yet to see the Percy Jackson movie. I'm really in to horror films in general but especially at the moment.

Permalink Reply by Psychoscot on June 6, 2012 at 23:13 It was called Braindead by most fans! Dead Alive was the US only title :) Awesome film! His first movie Bad Taste was better though.
Sir Ian McKellen joked in an interview that if he had seen them first he might not have agreed to do LOTR's

Permalink Reply by LivingDeadGirl on June 7, 2012 at 0:37 Ahh yeah. I forgot about that. I'm just so used to calling it Dead Alive I guess. I love the lawn mower scene. Brilliant!
Haha. Well it is quite a brutal film..Especially for the time. I like all that stuff though. It has that tongue and cheek vibe and it just works with that genre.
