Musically I think this is the strongest CoF line up, Paul and James are awesome guitar players, Dave is a terrific bassist, Martin is the best drummer yet, the keyboards on DDVA are excellent (although what has happened to Ashley now I don't know), and of course Dani continues to be my favourite metal singer ever. Overall I found the music on this album pushed to a new level. I don't mean to ask what is your favourite album, that is another question (DDVA is rapidly becoming my fav, as it kicks ass). I saw them on this tour and they were just fucking excellent, played the material from all eras extraordinarily. The quality of the musicianship was outstanding.

Good Lord No!

It's not the worst line up, as I think Thornography was their worst lineup. But, their best was defiantly their Principle Lineup.

Dani - Vocals

Paul Ryan - Guitar (wrote all of Principle and Dusk, Pretty much wrote every classic Cradle has)

Paul Allender - Guitar

Benjamin Ryan - Keyboards (their greatest keyboardist they've ever had)

Nicholas Barker - Drums (their best drummer they've ever had)

Robin Graves - Bass (their best bassist ever)

Andrea Meyer - Backing Vocals

I would say the Cruelty lineup is the best. Stuart and Gian did great, Nick's drumming was the best I've heard him do on a cof album, and Lecter's keys were amazing, and Dani's screams and lyrics were at their peak. That being said, the ddva lineup is still fantastic.

Well it's hard to say and is subjective because each member has brought different influences to the band.

Did this line-up bring very good songs? Yes they did very well.

Did this line-up bring the long epic tracks? Not quite, but still the album itself is fine and catchy.

While Principle is a great album, I think that subsequent releases have had more interesting melodies and more depth to the arrangements but chaque a son gout. While DDVA is a lot faster and not so "epic" (I think of this as the more varied in tempo, more sweeping tunes like Dusk...) Mistress from the Sucking Pit is a definite candidate. The Cruelty lineup was great, but I prefer Paul's guitar playing.
Also, the song structures aren't as drawn out as the older material, they are now mostly verse chorus verse chorus, bridge, chorus somewhat, but alittle more complex giving you the illusion that it is drawn out than being simple like I said.

Didn't Paul Allender write (the first) Dusk? At least he claims to have done so. Guess we'll never know for sure.

I agree with Nicholas having been their best drummer, though. Martin is rad, but still not quite as good as Nick, from my point of view.

I think that if Paul A. said he wrote something, he wrote it. He doesn't seem like the kind of guy who'd take credit for another person's work. You're right though, Tyrant, all CoF's lineups have been great, this one has just really impressed me. And having listened to the new album again, I think there are some excellent epic tracks on here, but they've got a different aspect to earlier ones. Beyond the Eleventh Hour, Lilith Immaculate, The Persecution Song, they all really soar
Agreed. Probably my favourite lineup as well.

AAAAAAAAAAAAGGGHHH, no. No it isn't. Not at all. In any way.

I'd say the Dusk line-up was their best - one of the best albums ever.
It would be nice if they focused more on bass lines as well, so therefore I have to go with Robin for fav bassist. Not taking away from Dave because he is great as well, but needs to be upfront more in the mix.
No."Cruelty" lineup was most definitely the best. The Anstis/ Pyres guitar combination was the best that the band has ever had, and one cannot fault Barker's drumming on this album. Shame about the mix.
