I got into metal pretty late, but once I was in, that was it, there was no going back, as metal is what I'd been longing for in music forever. lol I bought that album, then went back and got all their prior albums! It's been non-stop Cradle since then. They're one of the VERY few bands that I never tire of! I still to this day listen to the older stuff every week. Even when I get hooked on someone else, I still revert to CoF. Just can't seem to get my fill of 'em!

I say I bleed Filth because I actually like ALL their stuff even "Temptation" and all of Thornography and their demos! Until they start playing rap or hip hop Filth will forever flow through my veins!
Permalink Reply by Essence of Winter on November 17, 2011 at 11:50 I first listened to them in 2001 when I bought the Midian album. I like all of their albums and for the last several months, I haven't listened to any other band other than occasionally Hecate Enthroned.

Started listening to them in early 2004, when I was 13. First thing I've seen and heard from them was the video for "Scorched Earth Erotica" and then "From the Cradle to Enslave". Both pretty much shocked me, but there was something in their music and the vocals that I've never heard before. Been a fan since, though I'm not a fan of Thornography onwards.

Permalink Reply by Frank on November 17, 2011 at 21:17 1998 when Cruelty came out. I was in primary school (11/12 years old), and my best mate's sister had a boyfriend. He was older than us and he knew a lot more 'underground' metal bands (by that time I was listening to Manson, Metallica, Prodigy, Korn and The Offspring). He adviced us to check the new album by a band called Cradle of Filth. So I went to the cd store and had listen. Hooked immediately. For the first few weeks I thought the female on the cover did the high-pitched vocals (come on, I was 11 and didn't understand 1 single sentence of English, gimme a break :D)! Then a few weeks after I bought a Terrorizer issue (for the CoF pics, couldn't read it of course) and thought the person on the cover was a girl. Well it was Dani haha (how embarrasing thinking of it these days, hehe!). Mind you, it was a time when internet wasn't common at all and in Holland all you could get to know about a band was by hear-say or reading it (and being so young, I didn't have any metalhead contact). So it all felt very exciting and underground for me :)
Anyway, then next year FtCtE was released and bought it. Then Midian came out, went to listen to it, and (being a little 14 year old prick) I complained to my parents that 'the sound changed so much and they had new members' and bought Dusk instead. I even remember me writing (on the old CoF forum in 2001) that the Midian keyboard was like Rammstein's work. How naive of me!
Anyway, grew to love Midian in the months afterwards. In the years after I got all releases etc, and still a massive fan of the band. And hopefully will be forever :)
