There are two fake COF demos for sale, help prevent two CoF fans from being scammed!

I haven't used or posted to this site since 2005 before it was taken down then reopened as this official fansite a few years ago... but something came on Ebay recently that made me need to rejoin get word out and post..

There's a set of fake COF demos up on ebay and for those of you who are true fans of Cradle of Filth and with ebay accounts.. i urge you to log on and simply click "report item" and flag it for counterfeit.

I have messaged the seller, in regards to these items being ridiculously fake..

for example, the invoking the unclean demo cassette is on an American bought late nineties 90min TDK cassette... and they replied and the auctions are still up to this day..

Anyways, I hope some or all of you report this listing, and prevent two Fans from getting scammed by unknowingly purchasing fake COF demos.

Here are my original messages to the seller and their reply:

Dear thehenchman666,

I don't know if you are aware of this and were scammed in the past.. or
worse.. you are aware of it and just trying to scam users..

however your
demos for COF are clearly fakes.. the main dead giveaway is the TDK brand
cassette! Those are mid to late nineties store bought cassettes from
America. While this demo is suppose to be from 1992 and made in England..
and the cheesy letter stickers on the other and same thing on the wrong
cassette.

The real Invoking and orgastic demos were produced on a Plain
Black cassette tapes.. just a simple google search
you can find many pictures of many different "REAL" copies of the demo!

Dear ***********,

Not trying to scam anyone. I picked these up via a current member of C.O.F
back in the 90s. I've posted the actual product to which I believe is
authentic. I've listened to the demos many times over the years & there is
no problem with them.

Thank you for your concern

Dear thehenchman666,

then unfortunately you were scammed. you can visit any true cof fan site,
do a simple google search, etc and find many many images of the real demos,
they are all and only were ever on "Plain Black Cassettes".. i mean come
on.. TDK is an American company, do you really think back in 1992 CoF who
are in England would of had access to American Store bought cassettes from
the late 90s and would press their demo on them? also case in point, Early
90s TDK cassettes were "non transparent" plastics usually in black or grey
with a small clear window in the center (a google search reveals this as
well).

As for the orgiastic pleasures foul demo, you can even see a photos of it on the a COF website:

http://theorderofthedrago...f-total-fucking-darkness

same thing, on plain black tapes.

SO if the cassettes are a obvious fake on both, one can highly assume the inserts/papers are fake as well, just probably a scan or nabbed from the net.
As for the audio quality.. well, what do you expect, all one has to do is make a audio recording/copy of the original and will sound near perfect/exact.
In addition, the fact that the TDK tape is 90 minutes long.. i mean seriously.. the Insert clearly shows there's an A side and B side.. the A side content will only take up ~1/5 to 1/4 of the length of the TDK's 90 minutes, so do you think COF would really force all listeners to fast forward the remaining ~60+ minutes to listen to the rest? If on your copy all the A & B side songs are on the same side.. then obvious fake.

selling counterfeit items, even if you feel they are real (which they are not), still does not make it right. as one it's against ebay's rules to sell counterfeit items and secondly, as a Cradle of Filth fan since 1996, feel like you are taking advantage of innocent CoF fans who may not know what the real true demos look like & are scammed.

ARGH! looks like this person already scammed two CoF fans..

under their completed listings they sold a fake Total Fucking Darkness Demo.. i mean geeze.. no more obvious fake than that.. it's just a sheet of folder paper insert and the cassette holes on the insert aren't even cut out (just white paper)! Then with a regular cassette, while the real ones are professional printed tapes and inserts which covered the cassette which is why there are holes on the real inserts..

then the fake CRADLE OF FILTH/MALEDICTION - A Pungent & Sexual Miasma demo which is also like the invoking demo.. on a late 90s American TDK cassette tape... And i wouldn't be surprised if the demo is the same as the fake mp3s on the internet where Dawn of Eternity is the clear sounding pro studio version from "From The Cradle To Enslaved". while the other songs are poor bad sounding rips from the first 2 demos.

this definitely needs to be stopped!

We’ve discussed these demos in the “Cradle rarities on eBay and other sites” thread.

regardless if discussed, action needs to be taken and users need to report the item to prevent CoF fans from being scammed.

No chance, shit like this happens on eBay all the time and the victims tend to lose.

Ebay is good with the counterfeit reporting system.. if you report a listing for other reasons.. may not get Ebay's attention.. but the counterfeit one works like a charm. as even if the auction ended. ebay will still cancel the transaction if foudn to be counterfeit even after it closed, and refund the buyer as well.

I know, because I was once involved with such incident.. i had won the auction on an item, and i guess other ebay members must of reported the item and next thing i know, i got my payment got reversed, and ebay canceled the transaction. lucky for me, other eagle eyed buyers knew it was a fake listing or whatever the case and saved me from getting scammed..

Yes, but new fans to COF haven't and may not be aware. Looks like this member has put in a fair bit off effort for OUR benefit. This sort of vigilance is needed and I'm pleased someone is concerned enough to warn people!

Just one thing - TDK cassette tapes were available to buy here in England.  I bought more than a few of them when I used to use tapes.

even if available in England, i doubt that style? but even so.. CoF never used TDK tapes, only ever blank black cassettes for the first 2 demos and pro printed cassettes for Total Fucking Darkness.

Too late for this one but the way to handle these guys is to copy their photo and make your own listing for "Cradle of Filth FAKE demo tape" and just put that info in your title. It won't even cost you anything if you list at 99p start. JUST BE SURE TO PULL THE LISTING WITH MORE THAN 12 HOURS TO GO

this is a great idea and I'll keep it in mind if i ever see another fake anything.. copy the listing and clearly list it as fake :)

dont know that band and wouldn't know what their promos or demos look like xD but if you know it's fake.. you should take seistan's advice.. post a similar listing letting the world know it's fake.
