Hello my fellow CoF fans. As you probably dont know, I play in a band. It`s Black Metal so that means alot of overdrive and playing loud.

Now to the point. I have been using a Ibanez SA-260 on every rehersal, untill I bought a new and "better" model: Ibanez S-670fm. It got stronger pickups and a very diffrent sound than my other one. The problem is that this guitar gives loads of feedback that my other guitar didnt. I play at the same amp settings as I did before, and I use the bridge pickup which I allways have done.

But I get an insane feedback when I have volume on the guitar. I tried to switch to the neck pickup (cleanest sound) and that worked for a while, but now I can barely play without feedback. Even when I damp/palm-mute the strings I get it.

Anyone have any advices?

I still have the same amp, it`s the guitar that does it. I have tried to move further away - same deal.

Maybe I should buy a pedal like you say, untill now I`ve been using the drive that is built in to the amp. I got a pedal allready, but with a crappy sound, so I guess I`ll have to look for a new one. Untill then I`ll have to survive with my (not good) old SA model....

Thank you for replying. If anyone got any more suggestions I would be happy to hear them.
Thank you very much. I will try what you said, and if it doesent work I`ll just buy a pedal.

Thank you both for taking time to reply.
here's a tip or two:
First, learn to quickly ride the volume knob. I didn't actually use a npoise gate on stage for quite a lot shows, it was just turning the volume on the guitar on and off very quickly.

secondly as above, get a good noise gate.ISP make awesome stuff, i've been using the rack version of the decimator for a few years now and wouldn't want to use anythiing else.
Ok ok! Thank you too James, but the problem isnt only when I dont play. Even when I damp the strings to play the muted notes I get feedback in-between the strums. I have made a habit of allways turning off the guitar volume when I dont play, so the problem isnt there.

I`ll just have to play around with the amp and the pickups, and if it doesnt work I`ll buy a pedal.
Thank you all again *thinks he is thanking too much now...*

Sean: What do you mean?
