FUTURE/POTENTIAL CRADLE PROJECTS (vol. II)

Carried on from the other thread (Link to Part 1 of this Topic) which has apparently become buggy.

 

Like the last one, discuss any upcoming Cradle-related stuff:

 

- Evermore Darkly EP/Live DVD (October 17th/24th, 2011)

- Midnight In The Labyrinth (April 2012)

- New Album (October 2012)

- Dani Filth's Poetry Book

- Side projects (Temple Of The Black Moon etc.)

 

Evermore Darkly is obviously the priority at the moment.

How do bad (I see nothing wrong with them) song titles concern you?

As far as Cradle goes, I'm one of the few who thought both Godspeed and DDVA were stellar; but judging by the song titles, I'm nervous about the new one being a letdown. I realize going by song titles alone isn't a very valid reason to feel this way, but still, it concerns me.

I know that. I'm not an idiot. My post relates to this thread as well, because TOTBM is a Cradle Of Filth related project.

Actually TotBM has nothing to do with Cradle Of Filth. Dani's contract clearly states he can't use anything that resembles, infers or is related to COF, not even his vocal style or imagery. It is purely a solo project by Dani.

I'm just concerned that they may be cheesey or lyrically not up to par. I know that may not be the case, though. For example I thought "Devil to the Metal" was a silly name for a song, but it turned out to be great both musically and lyrically.

And… you thought Venus Aversa and Godspeed were “stellar”? Lyrically and musically? I can comprehend the latter; Godspeed did indeed have nice melodies and even better lyrics. But Venus Aversa, really?

A dream within a dream

And below the crescent moon
Atop a darksome stranger

Ah, the spurting of his seed inside her
Triggers paradise
She rides the beast until the heavens tremble

That is just… no. These are not Dani Filth lyrics. That’s what you get when you Twilight all over a 14-year-old’s deviantArt. Critiques accusing Dani of plagiarism and simply “not being responsible for all pre-Midian lyrics” were harsh and false, but not unjustified. Evermore Darkly’s lyrics, that one original song it had, were no better, so I am dubious, to say the least, when it comes to the new album’s aspirations.
