Whenever I hear newer CoF albums, it sounds like the same vocal-wise in every song, which is: A semi-long opening scream, regular ultra heavily layered verse vocals, less layered interlude vocals. Would it be too much if Dani really just put some emotion in it, like a heavy growl, or maybe some shouted cleans like in The Rape and Ruin of Angels, or at least put some more effort into his screams like before the 3rd verse of The Persecution Song. Awhile back I thought Dani was a fantastic vocalist, and he's still very uniqe, but now I think he just sounds like he doesn't care about the vocals these days. I'm just voicing my oppinion, wondering if anyone else thinks the same.
Even if you don't think so, go ahead and post your thoughts. The forums have been pretty stale lately, so it would be nice to see some discussion.

Hopefully he will expand his horizons and see why it's laughable one day, rather than serious.

(by the way, once you've got the technique down, it's really not that difficult to do - most good metal vocalists probably could do it if they wanted to)
ADreamOfWolves said:How is that funny? That's called talent. Very few metal vocalists can pull of what Dani did in Haunted Shores. The ability to scream that high, for that long, and for that speed, is amazing. There's nothing funny in that.

Permalink Reply by Nutsack of Filth on August 19, 2011 at 5:56 The voice I always liked the most was the low, spoken vocals he used to incorporate into songs on Vempire - Cruelty and a bit of Midian and Damnation. It really fit the band's "feel" to me.
Anyway, I don't see what's wrong with finding something funny - it is possible to find something unintentionally funny and admire it at the same time. There's no need to take everything too seriously - especially something as trivial as some vocals in a song. It's not like we're talking about a serious issue which actually affects people.

There's a reason for that, you know. Remember at the end of "Summer Dying Fast" on the Heavy, Left-Handed and Candid DVD when Dani gets his throat slit by the circus folk? That wasn't staged - that was real. The old Dani died that day, at the command of none other than Paul Allender.
Then they bring out their opus magnus: a new Dani, which they created from human body parts, cheese and old bin-bags. He looks pretty similar, but there are a few problems: even when making his first public debut, he was wearing a ridiculous mesh shirt with little horns on the shoulders, with the word "Devil" across the middle. Everyone thought this was just "Dani being kooky", but I take it as a sign of what's to come.
To be fairness, it took time for the fact that there had been a switch to become apparent. Evidently when Dani II came about, the original Dani still had a lot of lyrics and ideas for albums knocking about, which accounts for the quality of DaaD and parts of Nymphetamine and Thornography, but there are already problems brewing due to the fact that despite this new Dani doing a fantastic impression of the original, something's not quite right and it's getting worse ...
