Do you think Cradle should go death metal with their next album?

Just a thought that occured to me really. As we know, Dani's screams aren't going to last forever and they're beginning to take their toll on him right now. Although, Dani still has really good deep growls perfect for death metal. If the band went back to writing their own music for their own instrument instead of leaving it all to one person, the band could definitely experiment much more with the genre. It's not as if they don't like death metal - Dani's a fan of bands like Carcass and Obituary and the band probably have the potential to create a death metal album. The only problem I think it would have is that Dani's lyrics don't fit the death metal genre. What do you guys think? :).

LOL I'm with Adam there
I agree with you about Paul. The man's a good guitarist and has written some good riffs, but since he got "promoted" as it were to being up there with Dani in terms of decision-making and song-writing, you can definitely notice how samey it is beginning to get. Even though Godspeed was a good album, there are several songs which I can only distinguish from one another by listening to the lyrics.

And don't even get me started on Thornography. I sometimes get the feeling Paul would be better off in another band, but he's probably aware of how lucky he is to have such an important role in Cradle.

I don't agree with Les making out as if Dani is trying to command the band in that way, though much of the media-focus on the band is on Dani. Dani's admitted numerous times in interviews that he's a control freak by nature, which is probably why the band have achieved such a magnificent sound on their older albums, but now that Paul is left to compose the music, Dani is less involved, so it's getting a bit samey. That's the problem with Godspeed - too samey.

Les (Lecter) Smith once said on an interview: "Dani and the Filths". Can we believe his words?
I agree, the idea of this thread is a bit silly, but at least it's inviting some decent conversation, and the replies are generally talking about Cradle's musical direction in general, which is more than I can say for the "iz u goin 2 hell" thread, wherein the replies went along the lines of "i dno ... maybez?! iz heven full or sumfing LOL!"

Although all this information is coming from sources which are liable to be biased (even Sara, who seems to be a bit grumpy about the band in general - read her Myspace Q&A session), and I'm sure Dani would tell a very different story.

Personally, though, I can imagine Dani being a bit egotistical and probably selfish when it comes to band decisions, hence "Dani and the Filths"

agree, this thread at least talks about cradle and their music not irrelevant topics, and about Paul and the samey old shit I also agree, see, on Nymphetamine fix you can hear the end of the song with this little piano or musical box and is the same on some songs from godspeed (i think is on the darkness incarnate song) the same way ending with this little piano also present somewhere on thornography, remember, one good day back at the end of 1999 and first months of 2000 on a cradle rehearsal Dani came and said to Stuart: "get your shit out of here you are fired we have to make new improvements" (so Paul could join the band again because his own band the divine blood ended) Stuart said: "you fucking midget" on a very angry way because he gave all his heart and soul, time and inspiration and lots of music from the times of Vempire 1995 to From the Cradle 1999, this not too wise movement and trully injustified action also made Les Lecter to left the band, and about a year before end of 1998 first months of 1999 Nick Barker was also fired from the band on the same unfair way, he didn't want to leave and i can tell you this because i had a talk with Nick face to face on the Dimmu Borgir tour bus back in 2001 when they played on Monterrey (and sharing some pot with him), also I asked this to Sarah back in 2001 and it was the same Nick's version. Recently I also had several chats with Stuart's wife Elizabeth Antoniette, she's a nice and kind person and all my respect goes to her, she also told me what happended back then, so, there you have it.
I'm not sure, but didn't HE write Dusk and so on? He mentioned that in an interview.

Thats stupid! The only death metal that should be are the demos. Dani's vocals are awsome (even in live concerts)! So no death metal from CoF!=)
P.S alldow they could try grindcore xD
I think they should give screamo crunk a try, personally =P

No sadly I haven't. I can't find their older cds anywhere except for ebay and stuff. Plus I have no job and my parents are douchebags.

Err ... YouTube? Or this website, even. Just because you can't buy their old stuff doesn't mean you can't listen to it!

I highly suggest doing so.

I think Gian was the last thing keeping the band from going shit, so once he left things started changing.

Also, I'm sorry if you think this is a shit thread - it was just a suggestion and I thought it would start a nice debate, but I guess not.
