ofc :D
I have met some nice goths, and some arrogant goths that were snobs underneath, just like the preppies but of course with a different mask on. I bet some of you know what I mean!! I will never say I like a certain GROUP (of people) as a whole because that to me is ignorance at it's best.
Back when i was dressing what is now labled goth the whole point was to be outside the box. Now thanks to stores such as hot topic and such it is the "cool" thing to be. Do I still wear black, yes. Do I still where black makeup, on occasion but not everyday like i did in high school. Do i still consider myself "goth", if you have to lable it yes, but it is because it is who i am, how i act, my thoughts and ideas ect.... not what i wear.
Yes why not? the way people dress or the music they like...does it matter? hmm i guess chavs piss me off but generally I dont care...people are people :D
Goth chicks........yummy...MmMMMMmmmMM. Corsets and chains and leather; that's so hot... @_@
Yes cos EMOs r fags
same thing i said but in less words. i dont NEED to wear the clothes to be who i am, and if i had to label it, it would be "goth" but really, it doesnt matter what you call it.i've been dressing this way since as long as i can remember and all of these people who think they are "goth" have no idea what it means other than darkness (which is totally un true, in fact goth cme from the catholics, who believe devoutly in god. funny how ironic that is.

or
Mall Goths (omg dani issss sooo cute, i bought latest cof album i'm so goth. let's goto hottopic)

there is a dividing line between the fully pretentious and those of dark persona.
And what is the deal with all the emo hating? Is this 2006? Although the lines always blur, I think some are confusing emo's with scene kids. I'm not a fan of either, but what's with the negativity? Is because you get called one, and that expressing that you don't like emos, somehow convinces people that you're not emo? People are going to call you whatever stereotype is trendy and very vaguely matches at the moment. So leave them alone like you(presumably) want to be left alone. Also I've never heard a funny emo joke. Because they all consist of some sort of fabricated truth about emo's. e.g. Emos cut, emos will kill them self, etc. It's just over-used, and has no depth, therefor to me is not humorous. But it seems to be trendy to make fun of emos.

It really sounds like I'm defending them, but I'm not, I'm just trying to bring some neutrality and my 2 cents.

Displaying emo hate won't make them go away. It won't make the music go away. And it won't stop people from calling you emo(if you've got enough black on).
I totally agree with you, Pale Azure. Whatever happened to "hey, I think that's very silly, but... whatever, I'll just be over here now?" Those of you who are really so bothered by emos can't just avoid them? I don't care about them so I don't bother with them, positively or negatively.

I get the impression emo-hating really is more about making (like you say, horribly repetitive and not funny at all) jokes.

Yes, more so because its like a sense of completion for me within a group where I feel I belong. It isnt a mid-life crisis, it isnt a fad or a fashion to me. I dont do it for anyone, and i didnt do it to be popular or because I wasnt popular. Im in it for my own gratification. I like dark clothes and leather. I like wearing corsets and tight collars, and having my makeup entrance and intimidate people. I am a walking wonder at my best, and a nightmare banshee at my worst. As long as youre real about it; knowing the sub-culture history, and understanding not what goth means to others but what it means to you personally, and youre fine. Most of us tend to go into music/art/acting/literature though, which is even better because Ive always held a sort of bohemian-Victorian soul and enjoy nothing more then to surround myself with people who share the same interests and talents and can challenge my mind at every turn.

The sex is great too. Normal people arent as kinky as they think they are.
yeah i do and i consider myself as an goth because im a goth
