Permalink Reply by Lifestalker on July 2, 2012 at 15:34 Damn Kyo's vocals seem to be really shot during the Tokyo show, they seem below par. Like His effect on his screams where it usually echoes isn't there.
I can't tell if he keeps falling on the ground from exhaustion or because of the song.lol
Permalink Reply by Nutsack of Filth on July 3, 2012 at 0:01 I think it's cos he's going so hard at it - those were the last two songs of the show. Apparently he had been having vocal problems ever since they recorded Dum Spiro Spero though.
Can't fault the performance, though.

Permalink Reply by HELLHOUND on July 3, 2012 at 20:31 I don't really like Dir en grey... but I'll listen to them again soon, I got an album or so...
Anyways Hydra, I think he doesn't sound bad here, really. And if his voice is going downhill now and he still sounds that good... then damn(!) he's quite competent!

Permalink Reply by Nutsack of Filth on July 3, 2012 at 23:11 For some reason he never sounds quite as good on video as he does when you're actually there. It's the same with Dani Filth. Probably something to do with the acoustics in the room as opposed to something taken directly from the soundboard.
I don't know why Hydra thinks these two performances are so bad - but then again I prefer Dir when they're less polished and more raw.
This one's cool:

Permalink Reply by Lifestalker on July 4, 2012 at 1:23 I don't think they are bad, I just like it obviously when they are at their best. Budokan was probably my favorite performance by them.
I just thought during that at that performance at Tokyo Dome, Kyo sounded really tired...most likely due to the fact that it was after their first tour. He sounded really good at the beginning of the tour. All I am saying is that it sounds like he's straining himself there, almost like their first performance at Wacken.

Permalink Reply by Nutsack of Filth on July 4, 2012 at 5:25 I think his voice was actually great at Wacken, they just had serious sound problems (the documentary goes into more detail on that).
Remember, the Tokyo Dome performances I posted were both from the end of a long show so it's understandable that his voice would be a bit worn out - also he's more physically active than usual there. I don't mind it - like I said, I value performance over pitch-perfection. The Budokan shows are cool, but I definitely prefer The Rose Trims Again DVD - even though his voice probably isn't quite as good.
It sounds like I'm judging Dir's performances on Kyo alone and ... well, I kind of am, because he's pretty much the only variable member. I don't think I've ever seen any of the other members perform less than impeccably (although Kaoru did have trouble with the Different Sense solo towards the beginning of the tour).
