Permalink Reply by Nutsack of Filth on June 26, 2012 at 14:29 I was cringing at times when I watched it on the live stream, but it was clear that they had technical problems. It got better towards the end, but it's a shame that their first proper Dum Spiro Spero show didn't go well overall. Still, I was lucky enough to see them in Holland the day after and they clearly put a hell of a lot of effort into making that show go perfectly.
Then again, wasn't it watching that Wacken performance which got you into them in the first place? I guess it can't have been THAT bad to a newbie, but when you've seen them live and know what they're capable of then it's disappointing.

Yeah I have to say I feel bad for them because of their Wacken performance, but hopefully the people were blown away either way.
Permalink Reply by Lifestalker on June 26, 2012 at 18:06 Yeah that show was the one that got me into them funny enough. At times the off-sounding guitars sounded "cool" somehow, especially on Tsumi to Kisei. It sounded really weird, but I enjoyed it. Then obviously Kyo's vocals, I was blown away. Listened to that show many times.

From the DVD.
If you look really really super carefully, you can see me in the crowd here.
By the way, I should point out that the YouTube clips I posted are only for the first disc, there are still another two from this release (the Europe and Japan stuff)! And then another three discs coming out in July (featuring the US tour). Dir have done well.

Permalink Reply by Nutsack of Filth on June 28, 2012 at 23:49 Yeah. I still think Toshiya doing backing vocals during the clean part is a bad idea. It sounds alright when it's Kyo doing it in the studio version, but doesn't work so well live.

Permalink Reply by Nutsack of Filth on July 1, 2012 at 1:24 Man, I just watched the other two DVDs. I take back any complaints I was giving about the price or quality, they've REALLY taken care of their fans here. There's at least an hour or two of pro-shot footage on those discs alone, let alone all the semi-pro stuff and documentary things. The Japanese shows are incredible, with giant screens and everything, and Kyo is more active than he was even when he was in his 20s - but I think you can start to hear his voice breaking a bit at times.
Seriously - buy it, download it (http://theninjapanda.wordpress.com/), whatever, just give it a watch. The first disc is the one on YouTube, but the second and third discs are easily the best.

Permalink Reply by Nutsack of Filth on July 1, 2012 at 18:38 Firstly, get VLC player. This is the best media player out there, it will play anything that can be played. Secondly, get 7Zip (or Unarchiver if you're using a Mac). All of these are free.
Then you need to download each file (I think there are 13 for Disc 2) into the same folder. Open the first file with 7Zip and it should extract them all into one .mkv file. This can be played with VLC.
If not, I'm sure it'll find its way onto YouTube at some point.

Permalink Reply by Nutsack of Filth on July 2, 2012 at 0:55 Here, I uploaded Reiketsu Nariseba, last song of the Tokyo Dome show - they really go for it at the end:
Jesus fucking Christ this DVD is amazing. Three discs of pure awesomeness (minus the dull footage of them walking around in silence). Can't believe there'll be ANOTHER three discs of it out next month! They've spoiled us, big time.
