Yeah I mean it's like two seperate DVD things, with like 2 disc each featuring a documentary of Age Quod Agis tour and actual live footage of many of their songs

Some are in U.S. clubs, Osaka Hall in Japan, so I'm not too sure how the footage will turn out.

They were supposed to record another Budokan, but I don't know if they ever got to it or not?

Hey do you like The GazettE? I just started listening to them after I thought they sucked and they are pretty damn good. Like really good.

They're expensive as fuck to import, and I'm not sure if they're just a cash-grab during the band's hiatus (I doubt they were supposed to be made/released now), so I'll probably wait until some footage surfaces online.

If the songs really are professionally recorded with good sound, then they're going to be amazing DVDs.

Hey Dradle, are you going to be getting the new DVD's from the band coming out here soon?

Osaka-jo Hall will probably have good footage, it's a huge venue and they were probably intending on filming there anyway.  I'm psyched that we're getting a fair few songs from the "Zombie" show in Japan, though, no matter how bad the quality is.

I don't think they did another Budokan.  They did another Uroboros show (weirdly) in January, but apparently that's when Kyo's voice really went to shit.  That's the Osaka-jo Hall footage - it seems weird that they're releasing every Uroboros song except Glass Skin, Dozing Green, Ware ... Yami Tote, Bugaboo and Inconvenient Ideal.  They performed all of them.

There is some pretty good pro-footage from a US show which they showed during an interview, but I can't find it on YouTube anymore.  Then again, during some fan-shot videos in the US you can see some pretty professional camera rigs flying about.

The footage from London is likely to be awful since there were no professional cameras there - it'll probably be something like that footage from Paris that they released on their channel where you can't hear Kyo's voice at all.  We'll see.

I tried the Gazette a few times, they just don't do much for me.  I don't really like any other J-Rock/visual bands.

Yeah I really want to see the one in the zombie paint and make-up that'll be cool.

I hope Kyo ends up getting over his situation. Who knows what will happen to his voice though. Hopefully another album in the future.

The Gazette remind me alot of Dir En Grey in their Visual Kei era to their Marrow of The Bone and I could say Uroboros era as well. I don't know which songs you've heard, I just listened to their first 3 albums and I was pretty surprised. Alot of variety and not shitty like I thought before listening to them. They almost sound like they compete with Dir En Grey in a way. I swear the track below sounds just like Sa Bir.

You know I am kind of worried now, because the vocalist from Despairs Ray had throat issues and they had to disband because of it.

I wish Dir En Grey didn't have to leave the tour they were scheduled to have with Asking Alexandria and Trivium, bands I think suck. Now that I look at it, I think I see why they went for that, for good "marketing" purposes. They would more than likely have appealed to that audience and blow those other bands out of the water.

Sad though that they had to drop out of it...

Yeah, Dir's management make them do a bunch of stupid stuff for international appeal.  The first time I saw them was in a tiny student union in Norwich, England, where they were supporting Bring Me The Horizon and Mindless Self Indulgence - despite being multi-millionaires who sell out multiple nights at huge venues like the Budokan in Japan within minutes.  Meh, that's just how things go, I guess.

A lot of people have criticised the Gazette for ripping Dir en grey off.  I've never paid much attention - as far as I know, the Gazette are more popular, probably because they're pretty tame compared to Dir en grey's post-Vulgar stuff, and they still wear the sparkly outfits etc.  I just don't really care about them, I've got Dir en grey and that's fine for my needs.

Well even the it seems stupid to some of their fans, including me, it's a very smart move business wise. They definately deserve more recognition and it sucks because to me it's obvious that they changed their sound to appeal American audiences with influences from nu metal.

I saw read one of their recent interviews saying that Dum Spiro Spero is all about the music and their most progressive. I kind of disagree, while it is progressive, I though Macabre was their most and their best.

I don't know if they were trying to appeal to an American audience as such, I think they were just trying to get away from the VK thing and also took influences from Western metal.  I think up until Marrow Of A Bone (or maybe Withering To Death) their influences were coming from European industrial music more than anything.

Macabre's great, obviously, but I think their songwriting has improved a lot since then (as you'd expect after 10 years or so).

The trailer for the first DVD is out:

Looks pretty much as I expected - some pro-shot footage, some not-so-pro-shot footage and the always tediously boring footage of them walking around backstage/in airports in total silence.  Looks like the zombie show was recorded professionally though, which is good!

Either way it's pretty cool still I guess. Too bad I can't buy it, probably going to have to wait til it shows up on youtube.

I would.  Or at least wait and see if it gets released in Europe/the US so you don't have to deal with import costs and Japan's weirdly high tax on entertainment products.  The Budokan DVD cost me about £17 (about $25) when it came out in the UK, but the same exact DVD would have cost around £40 (about $60) without postage if I'd bought it from Japan.

Yeah I actually just got my copy of Dum Spiro Spero in the mail yesterday (I know it's late), but I had to buy something of Dir En Grey because they've become one of my all-time favorites. It wasn't import because I bought it from a U.S. seller. I would buy their other albums too, but the majority of them range from $20-30 dollars due to the import tax.

You can get all their albums from Vulgar onwards from US and European retailers.  Macabre, Kisou and Gauze are harder to come by.
