Please stop writing pretentious music that is predictable in structure and sound. Be diverse and DON'T keep thinking that good metal is "FAST" and "BRUTAL". Your best music and songs have been quite diverse and actually more mid-tempo.

It seems like you are stuck with thikning is has to be "Fast". Fuck fast. Play with emotion and fire! Play from teh goddamn soul and not from what people expect it to be.

Your last album has some hope of change from the last 2 albums in that it seems as if you are just making better music. Make it unpredictable and fucking epic... the song structures really suck compared to your first albums and I think that is why your music has been lacking in scope and emotion.

"Beyong Elventh hour" has the chorus riff how many goddamn times? Screw chorus's!

I just decided to write this because the older albums featured what I am talking about and I hope you get the record execs out of ur head, "Forgive Me Father" is lip service to them, only song remotely mainstream. It sticks out like and sore thumb!(I like teh singbut it doesn't fit the record at all!)

I hope I am clear and I hope you read this thanks, a long time fan.

The only Keys in Thorno are in Tonight In Flames and Rise Of The Pentagram, everything else is Orchestra. They Boosted the orchestra in Godspeed and Yes lowered the Keys but it wasn't called for or required. the only keys i heard was in Honey And Sulphur, Midnight Shadows, and Corpseflower. but unlike the two previous albums, DDVA had Keys in Every song, but not being played through out the entire songs.
I agree with that. I think the next album shouldn't have a concept. there needs to be an album with melodic songs like Malice Through The Looking Glass. that song never got extreme but emotionally powerful in it's own way, it never got fast, it stayed Mid-Tempo Through out. lyrics were at all time high back then but only because they weren't about one subject, only a theme.

I think CoF is on a good direction keyboard/synths-wise (not their best, but a good start if they continue in this direction.).  As for lyrics, I believe Dani when he said the lyrics were dumbed down to tell the story, as the special edition songs like Behind the Jagged Mountains and Truth & Agony that aren't related to the story have some pretty good lyrics that are better, IMO, than the ones on the regular album.
Yes, like that, or some of the riffs from Thirteen Autumns were very melodic.  An album like that would be great, with some harmonizing guitars, and more creative influence from James.

Paul needs to stop being the mixer/write of everything. everyone needs to really contribute. they need a focus, a goal of sound. the past few albums its just paul sitting and just playing. in almost all recent interviews dani and paul have said that they avoid listening to anything so that what they write is purely their material, back in the very beginning, Rob was the only fan of black metal and when he should them bathory and stuff like that they were inspired to write in black metal style. they have alot of potential but they need to get back to their roots.
Sorry but Maiden latest album is totally fresh and offers a great deal to long term fans, after many album that I do agree just tread water they have at long last taken a few risks and delivered what is rightly regarded by most  long term fans as their best since Seventh Son. I do agree on your other points though! There is just no magic there now! I used to wait with pleasure for a new Cradle album knowing there it would be a great listen. haven't had that feeling since Nympthetamine.

Cradle of Filth have had it. They've entered Iron Maiden stagnation territory now and they won't be coming out of it any time soon.

The band that made the magic is long gone. What we are left with now is a short, fat man with a bad hair cut who is a shadow of his former self and a band comprised of people with their hearts in the right place but their musical ideas in the wrong band.
I just think  they should ditch the generic arrangments and have a more collaborative writing process
Ihave t agree that even though they still deliver, the magic and atmosphare from the old albums is lost. However this is the matter with all bands, and this also has something to do with the listener. Back in 98 when i heard Cof and Dimmu Borgir (EDT) for the first time i was amased and touched by the atmosphare in the music, but today no band or album can give me the same reaction because i've heard it all before.
i think that's it completely.

Fucking.Completely.Agreed.

I loved old songs without choruses. So progressive. Not the usual chorus music you find in mainstream media. Thats all they do. It's a marketing technique, so you remember the chorus and it's catchy for that reason. Trust me I know the techniques they use. I've taken several marketing classes as well as music classes so I'm familiar with this kind of stuff. I really loved Godspeed on the Devil's Thunder "Midnight Shadow's Crawl to Darken Counsel With Life". I loved that little interlude... reminded me of the good ol' days of Cradle. Wish we could have more of that.

yes! exactly!
They said their next album will be their best, so if it's their best it must be the return to old Cradle of Filth.
No, by that logic, DDVA was a return to old CoF, because Dani said it was CoF's best album to date.  Dani said himself, the band does not want to return to the heavier sound they had in the 90s, he said they can't try to emulate their old material, because it wouldn't be as good and fresh.
