I don't want Dave to leave!
They need to put Dave in the spotlight more. Seriously. Thornography and Godspeed they were getting their with the bass again, but lost it on DDVA, wtf.
Ehh... Most people don't even care about the bassist, because most can't even hear the bass in any songs. I certainly don't.

Ha! Well you obviously haven't dwelled into the classic bands that made bass one of the most important instruments in metal. I have no clue why bands now days try and hide the bass, because the bass adds alot to the music.

Take Dusk for example. Plenty of bass upfront how it should be. Also bass leads.

Bass and drums create the rhythm ... without Bass the whole thing is just wrong. If you don't notice the Bass player then he is really doing his job. Only the best can do this ... sometimes referred to as subliminal bass but without it  meh ...

Carach Angren doesn't have a bass player in the studio or live concerts. And look how successful they're becoming.

So successful that nobody's even heard of them!

Bass is important, even if you don't pay attention to it.  It's like the skeleton of a song (in rock/metal at least).

7,000 fans on their facebook page, and many people on this forum know about them. Just cause you don't, doesn't nobody else does.

How does this even have to do with keyboardist of CoF?
Caroline is firstly a Bass guitarist that also plays keys and sings ... sort of about Caroline I guess?
An Organ was traditionally used for the Bass parts, played with the foot pedals, and as now used for guitar terminology, the "Pedal Tone" provides the Bass line. Drop or detuning guitars (especially 7-string) can supply added or replaced Bass.

Ok then. I mostly even search bass from a song since it's not easily detectable in most. :D
Not being able to notice it as individual notes gives it a subliminal flow or back-beat, the drive, if you like, to the sound. Of course this varies, some groups do this where other groups like Primus, use bass as a lead as well. It's hard to notice until you here a demo and the sound is quite weak and tinny. But I do the same, trying to pick the bass parts :)
