LOL Yes,i've been to church...
I even started my own church once.. we worshipped Zeus. Zeus just happened to be a perfect glass bong that we smoked every sunday morning at 10:30 when the church bells rang across the street..one time a chick even made us a bulletin.. ahh the good ol days... but as for real church, yes I used to go..I was raised catholic and was an altar boy and all that crap..thankfully no priest ever tried anything on my cute ass.. i think I'm going to hell bc one time I put like ten communion wafers in my mouth and drank the wine used for mass... my wife and kids still go to church, but I only go now for weddings and funerals.. I don't believe in the whole Jesus Christ is my savior thing.. I would believe in God, before I believed that Jesus was my savior..
I'd assume that most people in Christian countries have been in a church at least once, regardless of religion. I've been in churches on countless occasions for various different reasons: carol concerts when I was younger, I was forced to attend a chapel service every morning at secondary school, Christmas concerts which my parents like going to for tradition's sake, funerals, weddings and just plain curiosity.

While I don't embrace what goes on in churches, it's hard to deny that some of them are architectually stunning (especially in mainland Europe) and there is often an aura of peace which is hard to find elsewhere. Then again, some of them are very creepy too.

When I was younger, I used to have a morbid fear of crucifixes (you can only imagine what my parents thought!), which I still do have to this day to some extent. Not for any symbolic reason of course, it's just a pretty horrible image! There are some very graphic models in some churches which depict a wasting away Christ in agony, bleeding from the thorns in his head and his hands and feet twisted around these nails. It's really quite nasty, and makes me wonder why people choose to worship that particular image ... Buddhists, for example, have a fat smiling man to look to whilst praying. So yes, to this day I'm still slightly wary in churches for fear of bumping into another horrific crucifix.

So yes ... mixed opinions! A lot of churches in England have kind of been ruined by very "modern" influence in otherwise centuries-old buildings (a no smoking sign next to the altar, speaker systems etc.) which kind of sucks.
Nope. Havent in 5 years. My parents dont force me. As long as I do good but they cant force me anymore because im 18+
I went a few times with my grandma so I could go out to eat with them afterword.
I've been raised catholic, been to church countless times, never forced to. I used to go as a teen because one of the young priests was really cool, he used to be the bass player in our metal band. Needless to say, he was axed by the Parish Priest for being a satanist (because he played in our black metal band). And needless to say, all the young people who actually went to church before flipped the bird at it after that.
I've been to the church to get married etc. lol
There is a difference I think between the church as a building and the church as an institution.
While I have my issues with the church as an institution, I love churches, especially medieval ones. I love wander in them, going to the crypts, explore them. And some have awesome mummies and skeletons inside, often dressed in awesome medieval clothes. I saw many of these in austria and germany, ladies with a skeleton face but hair still or almost intact... and jewels on their heads and beautiful silk gowns. Awesome.

Collapsed Catholic but yes been to church just dont pay any attn...
Flippped off a holy man the other day it was funny

Wow! That IS sooooo funny.

okay.
yeah.

Moving on, yes I have gone to church many times. In fact I just went last weekend........yes, by choice.
I enjoy the philosophies underlying the message and I have the ability to overlook many things that go along with it,....I do enjoy some sermons given at this particular church although some of them have a few things that piss me off....but then I toss them out. I go every about once or twice a month. Beautiful place also. I love stained glass!!! :D
By no means is it a crazy Jesus freak type of place either....could never do that,...it's Lutheran. Anyone seen the movie Luther, by the way? What a hero he was for his time. Seriously, he stood up to those Catholic holier than thou figures,...love him for that.
Anyway, the messages are ultimately of self sacrifice, love, and just general thoughts encouraging spirituality, and how to live a life ignoring worldy demands. I tend to look at the entire thing as a good influence even though I don't buy into the doctrine I do appreciate many things about Christianity (and many religions for that matter).
Thank you for reading, would love any comments to further this discussion~

I went to church every sunday until about the age of 8..When my parents split,so i guess we had no time or something. Idk

But man,how I disliked church..Waking up very early in the morning, around 6 and wearing "church Clothes." The food after church was good though..lol
