Burzum: Varg Vikernes' release
Well, it's been announced that Varg Vikernes, aka "Count Grishnackh", the mind behind Burzum, is being released from prison after finally having been accepted parole. Imprisoned in 1993 for the murder of Mayhem's Euronymous, he's served 16 of his 21 year sentence, and now he's being released.
So, what are everyone's views on the release of the most notorious black metal musician of all time?

It's a great pity that he was born at all. Such people are one more reason why I don't wanna label Cradle of Filth black metal.

I dislike him as a person (murderer, nazi), but in my opinion his music is pure genius.
But of course it's a matter of taste.
Hope that there will be - like he said - some more Burzum albums.

but even if he was released,he would probably have forgotten about this and now he will probably move on-no music,no murders, all mind;)
Well on his site (burzum.org) he said that when he gets released he will keep making music.

Varg says that "I have learned from my mistakes and become older" according to a recent interview about his release and that "Now I just want to be together with my family".
Sounds like he's going to lie low now. Whether he has truly reformed or not I'm not sure, but he seems to have sense enough to play things safe now. I look forward to any further Burzum releases. His last black metal album "Filosofem" was truly amazing.

Well, the last time he was let out for a short while they found him driving a stolen car full of weapons with plans for a massacre ... I'm surprised they ever let him out, let alone 5 years early! (I think)
If you ask me, though, some Mayhem (or Euronymous) fan might try and off him. It's kind of like releasing Charles Manson.

It's actually said by Vickernes that Euronymous attacked first over jealousy of a girlfriend and somethin about not paying him for some of the record deals. The fight resulted in his death. It can't be blamed completely on Varg. Apparently Euronymous was being a bastard to his band as well as his customers and friends.

Vikernes said that Euronymous was apparently planning to kill him, and he attacked in self-defense. But there are all sorts of other theories and speculation as to what went on - a vast number of these were fabricated by the media. Either way, you can't exactly trust Varg's account 100%, for obvious reasons really. It's all a bit hazy as to what actually took place and why...the media obviously latched onto it and blew the whole black metal scene was out of proportion. I don't think anyone will truly know what went on behind Euronymous' murder. Either way, Varg is a fool for killing in the first place, even if Euronymous wasn't a nice person.

And some say that it was because of Euronymous owned Varg money and didn't pay royalties for sold albums etc. Truth is we will never know for sure why he was killed.
I just hope Varg has learned something in prison and stays off crimes. I don't like his music at all and doesn't sound like the nicest person either but I knowledge his influence on black metal scene.

I have finally found somebody that doesn't blame everything on Varg.
And even if he did kill Euronymous, look at how he killed him. He stabbed a fucking pocket-knife through Euronymous' forehead. That is bad ass.
