the jonas brothers- where the fuck are their parents?
any other disney child that put out a record.

rihanna- she's ripped off so many songs. for example: the tune for her SOS song is the same melody and beat as Tainted Love, only with different lyrics, and she ripped off that numa numa song with her new song with TI or whatever the hell his name is.

trivium- just because of matt heafy. he's such a james hetfield wannabe, i wouldn't be surprised if he's already sucked his dick.

Not really we just have taste, i've listened to enough rap over the years, i will give any music a listen.
Dre is/was a legend (think he's retired from rapping not sure)! A lot of rap is shite though with very shallow lyrics particularly the newer stuff.

The fact that people who do not have brain damage listen to this shit and somehow enjoy it makes me want to hurt small, defenseless animals. As for the people who said some of it is good, I'll take a hit on whatever you're smoking and we can both go to fantasy land and frolic in the technicolor forests. It's all shit. My brother is a Wigger, and i used to work with a bunch of "gangstas" all of who told me that "some of this is good." I tried. I've listened to TONS of rap and hip-hop and all that shit. NO GOOD SONGS! not one. not even half of one. This whole genera sucks ass and needs to be exterminated from this planet. I'm sorry if you disagree, but this shit is slowing down the progression of the human race. I have been in close contact with the people who listen to a lot of this "music" and they are ALL, without a single exception, dumber than shit and completely obsessed with bling, bitches, and their own status.

#2 is country. same as above, but all they do is whine about their shitty lives. I'm convinced that country songs are the exact opposite of snowflakes. No two are different in any way.

As for metal/rock/pop that i could do without:
Linkin Park cannot continue to exist. I will go insane.
Disney-manufactured artists that are created to sell sex and idiocy to children.
Marilyn Manson is the most over-rated piece of shit in heavy music. If you kill him, I'll give you a little gold-star sticker for doing a good job.
That goes for Mr. I Like To Screw Boys Jackson as well.
In fact, the only thing i cannot agree with from previous posts is Slipknot.

As i've said before, these posts show a lot of narrow-mindedness among the posters in this forum. No doubt, 75% of you have had only fleeting experiences with rap or hip-hop; a loud radio down the hallway or a clip of a video on MTV. I urge many of you to try non-mainstream hip-hop and see if what you find is the same. As fans of Cradle of Filth, surely you can acknowledge the value of good lyrics, and that is what a lot of good hip-hop has to offer.

2. opeth. shit really bothers me...the grand conjuration was a pretty good song, but most of their stuff is just slow and tepid, not inspiring in the least.
3. pretentious indie/hipster shit, like neutral milk hotel and crystal castles.
4. metallica/slayer/megadeth= just doesn't do that much for me. Okay, you pioneered thrash. now get out of my life. hate might not be the best word, as i respect their work, but i think they are vastly overrated and don't really listen to them.
5. deathcore. really grinds my gears. I really gave it a fucking chance. I listened to just about every band the genre has to offer, and with the half-exception of All Shall Perish, it really all just sounds like the same rehashed shit.

-Avril Lavigne. How the crap does "Hey, hey you, you" fit into any kind of rock whatsoever? She's as irritating as Britney Spears! Really hardcore, hey. Strange how black clothes and grubby makeup spells "rocker" these days.
-Any song/band that has the words "baby" "love you forever" and a high note that my dog could throttle, all sung by someone barely starting puberty. Yes, you disney shitelings. They can pelvic thrust on stage, but when they do it off stage it is suddenly the disaster of the century. Double standard bastards. Pure? Like Hell they are
-Evanescence. Fine, a song or two of theirs is listenable, but why does she ahve to be so arrogant? "I am Evanescence. Everyone else is under my employ." I think that explains it all.
-Those unimaginative dj's who take peole's songs and 'mix' them into their own 'tracks'. Originality is important. If these people wanted a dance mix to their songs, which I doubt they did, they would ask.
-Screaming skanks. Fine, We like seeing your arse 190% of the time and We do notice it more than We do your singing, which is probably horrible anyway. I do believe in listening to the song before you judge it, but sometimes I don't even bother. What are they called? Dolls? Wow, they really do not want to be seen as objects. A squeal and long legs sells records. Cash in, baby.

Gotta disagree, I have listened too an abundance of rap and hip hop underground and other wise and it is all shit (lyrics are in no way any kind of good or relevant or smart or anything). I am definitely not closed minded when it comes to music I mean I listen to old country like Johnny Cash, Jerry Reed and such. I listen to folks like Tori Amos, Bjork and Neil Diamond, with a variety of music styles I enjoy, how can I be closed minded? But out of all the rap and hip hop I have heard (I have friends that like that and like Paul said earlier in this thread, they got me to listen to it and I can't disagree more with them on the so called "merit and values" these "songs" are supposed to have), I didn't like.

Granted I have nothing against folks who do like it, I just kinda get tired of folks assuming those of us who hate it are closed minded fools, when the fact is more than half of us are not and have listened to a whole hell of a lot of it. If we only listened to a little bit, like just the mainstream stuff, we'd be closed minded cause we didn't give it a chance. But most of us have given it a chance and it failed miserably. Unlike Paul (no offense) I do like a few songs in the rap and hip hop genre but even the ones I like are lyrically retarded. But some of them just catch you, you know what I mean. Still about 95% of ALL RAP AND HIP HOP suck in my opinion, again no offense to those who do like it (same with you Slipknot fans, I hate them, but have nothing against the fans.)

Although my post wasn't specifically aimed at you, posts like these led more to my opinion. The idea that rap/hip-hop can be accurately reflected by 50 Cent, Soulja Boy, or even legends like Tupac and Biggie is, well in my opinion close-minded. I can't attest to your musical exposure, but

looks like you might have had a narrow lyrical perspective in terms of rap. Yes, I'm aware you were probably joking but it's entirely possible you weren't given some of your statements. Your claim "with a variety of music styles I enjoy, how can I be closed minded?" reminds me of the old "well, some of my best friends are black ,so i'm not racist". the two are not mutually exclusive; all of the examples you cited are more or less pretty mainstream.
Finally, your claim that "lyrics are in no way any kind of good or relevant or smart or anything", well I find that simply laughable. Sure, there is a sickening overabundance of songs about chains and cars and shit. But I implore you to open your mind to other styles of rap; for example, the cd Deltron3030 a concept album set in the year 3030. Many rapper such as Saul Williams are also poets, and if his words don't move you then we may not see eye to eye on anything. The entire horrorcore genre is basically brutal deathmetal rap lyrics. I could go on and on, but for the sake of concity i won't, suffice to say there is plenty of lyrical diversity in rap if you invest a small amount of energy in searching.
