I remember in the days before broadband most of the time the only chance of hearing things from a bands new album were the promo tracks in magazines or the music videos. It was exciting and made the album that much more worth the wait. I remember the huge hype building up when the Cruelty and The Beast or Midian albums were about to be released, it was exciting and finally going to get the album and bring it home was a satisfying feeling, you'd generally feel wrapped up in that album and spend ages listening to it and going through the booklet and lyrics along to the album. I remember how buzzed I was opening to seal to Cruelty and the Beast when I got it back then, I was immersed in the moment and it's memorable to me.
These days everyone wants everything right away, they dont let the momentum build up, it spoils things when you just download the album as soon as it is leaked. Just wait for the promo tack or actual album... it's much more of an event. So many people just don't value the whole package anymore, bands don't bother to even try and build up the same hype these days because they know people will just download leaked copies anyway. It's pretty sad, I miss those older days.

I will listen to the album before it releases, then, I will be one of the first to purchase it so I can appreciate the artwork and decipher the lyrics. Just face it, this band is like crack; we go through withdrawals and always want more. :cD
