I hate animal cruelty but what does petsmart do? I'm not trying to be ignorant i really want to know
I'm just woundering how you feel about I guy how raises his own ckickens and cattle so that he can control whats in his familyes food. And yes I slaughter them myself. I allso deer hunt and turky hunt every year. But I use every thing from the animal that I kill. And no I donn't kill for fun, It's just cheapper to feed my family this way.
Killing for pleasure I don't agree with, but killing for food I totally support! It's natures way. I have no problem with those that don't eat meat providing they don't shove it in my face or think they are superior because they don't eat animals.
Humans are hunter/gatherers by nature, hunting for food is quite normal. You use "free-range" to raise your stock which again is fine/natural. What the problem is the cruel way they "farm" chickens (for example) in batteries, the conditions are atrocious and the "end product" is poor. Mass production.
You are very lucky and your (natural) lifestyle is becoming lost to future generations ... a shame. Keep up the good work, I for one envy you! My ancestors (Australia) were farmers/shopkeepers living on the North Coast and as a child I can remember growing our own vegetables, collecting the eggs and even remember trying desperately trying to pluck a chicken, gut and clean fish up until I was 5 when we moved to the city. :D

In India where "meat" is largely unavailable, grains become a staple diet. Add a touch of "mysticism" and people start believing it's a religious necessity to not eat animals. Chuck in a bit of "reincarnation" and Bob's your uncle!
The sacred cow syndrome was created for purely economic reasons using the mystic slant to stop people wasting resources in that era. Now India have untended cows everywhere because they were "tricked" into a false belief!
The idea came from the concept of a cow can supply milk for years rather than a few meals in the short term, dung used for everything from footpaths, mosquito repellent, fertiliser and more importantly, growing psilocybin "Mushies" for getting shit-faced stoned! Hmmmmm ... mushies !!!! xD They may be right!

This is true, most people abhor animal cruelty. Similarly, a few gross pictures do not deter cigarette smokers. There will always be a fringe element in society that get a perverse pleasure out of hurting animals, the rest is economical driven by corporate greed neither of which you can stop using logic. You have to physically do something and this in most cases is (unfortunately) against the law. I'd love to kick some butts but ending up in prison won't solve anything.

Like I said, I'm a vegetarian bordering on vegan myself, but you'll need more than tacky pictures to make a point. That's what PETA fails to understand.

And I'm sure almost everyone thinks animal cruelty is wrong - so what's the purpose of this thread? I might just start one called "Rape", and say "It's wrong, I hate it!" and then post a few pictures of rape victims.

What do you actually want out of this thread?
I beg to differ, in the cities in India but in rural areas all lentils, rice, onion, some veggies, chutney or curry and bloody papadum ... uhhh, but they're good at it.

Natural born killers?-
"The intestinal length of carnivores (meat-eating animals) is three times the body length to allow for quick removal of flesh wastes that putrefy in the intestines. Man's intestine length, like other herbivores, is six times his body length and is designed for digesting vegetables, grains, and fruits." Wikipedia.

The appendix was used for digesting leaves as in primates. Ours has shrunk to a vestige from changed dietary habits. I'm hungry, gonna cook a nice, juicy steak, sausages, bacon and eggs with baked beans and a side dish of toast and vegemite! ... yummy XD

I rarely eat red meat, mainly fish and some chicken at times.

Yeh I'm a fairly good cook lol, but I love a burger or 3 on a Saturday after shopping. I mostly eat pasta based dishes and french style food when I'm in the house. Favourite food is fillet steak with Diane sauce, and I adore froie gras

... dude, eat some real food! This stuff is just grim. Don't you cook?
