This isn't an album of the year this year (of 2007, without a doubt), but "Colors" by Between The Buried And Me. A great album from 2008 is "Watershed" by Opeth.

For Lies I Sire by My Dying Bride is my (this far) nr. 1 record of the year.

Eluveitie's Evocation I - The Arcane Dominion is my favourite at the moment. This may change depending on how good the new Manegarm album turns out to be.
