Bathory Aria is, if you so want, the softest song on that album ‒ or at least the most melodic. :P
And A Dream of Wolves in the Snow is… Well, not really an instrumental, but I wouldn't call it a song representing its album, either.

Don't worry, really. There is no need to vindicate your tastes. In time, you will most likely get to love their old works as much as their new ones and, perhaps, even prefer the early material ultimately. Musical hardness is something one has to get used to, not even the "truest" kvlt black metal fan listened to Endstille in their cradle (unless they had somewhat special parents).

Any… interesting, friendly music? By Cradle or in general? The ultimate rule seems to be that most of the bands, if their musical hardness changes, get softer. At least that was the case for Dimmu Borgir (or so I've been told), Gorgoroth, Marduk, Mayhem, Alcest (very much so), Lantlôs, partially Dark Funeral and, most notably, Cradle themselves. If you really love Nymphetamine, just go with anything labeled "gothic metal" (such as Theatre of Tragedy, Epica, Sirenia, bit of Nightwish), but I'd strongly recommend you to keep on exploring Cradle. Once you can enjoy songs like Lord Abortion, you're on your way to like the rougher, older stuff. And once you love Queen of Winter, Throned, you should know what this band once was like.

Well… Of course, the music doesn't get softer no matter how many times you listen to it. All that changes is, as you said, your perception of it.

I have to disagree with the sophisticated part, actually. There are many reasons, but just look at the lyrics of the old songs. I mean, really…

Yep, there are some great "old" topics! Tho I don't get the Thread being "WHO is your favorite SONG on COF" So I suppose Dani is my favorite song with Paul a close second :P
