I am not a huge rap or hip-hop person, but, I fancy a couple of rap artists--I like Missy Elliot and Salt-n-Pepa the best!! Old school stuff, mostly!! --Em. =))
No, just NO!
There was some old skool Public Enemy, NWA  even early Eminen era that was good, but NO not the current one's.

This really isn't the place to ask about rap, I guess.  But here's my list:

- Jedi Mind Tricks

- Foreign Beggars (and their solo work)

- Dr Syntax

- Immortal Technique

- pre-"Encore" Eminem

- Peeping Tom (hip-hopish)

- Wu-Tang Clan

- Ice Cube

- Ice-T

And old-school stuff like Public Enemy, Run-DMC and Sugarhill Gang is always fun.

Some of the best lyrics I've come across in any music come from the first five examples.

I listen to everything so, my list:

Old School:

Run DMC

Fugees

Public Enemy

Beastie Boys (some songs)

New School:

Jay-Z

Nicki Minaj

Drake (he will always be Jimmy from "Degrassi" to me)

Pharell/N.E.R.D.

Missy Elliott

OutKast

Eminem (older works)

Kid Cudi

SOME Lil'Wayne

and finally, he may be an asshole, but he is an asshole who comes out with catchy songs, Kayne West

Nicki Minaj?  Ohhh dear, Cassandra, we have a problem.

Isn't she pregnant by that Drake fellow?

:/

I only watch Nicki Minaj videos for her makeup. Hobbies make you watch the weirdest things :P
I tell you who had some wicked make-up in his day:Dee Snider!! Lady Gaga's make-up is wicked!! oops, getting off the main subject here!! I agree with Cassandra about one thing up there in her post: I like The Beastie Boys too!! Who could forget their killer tune:"Sabotage"!! Oh my god, it's a mirage...It's Sabotage!! Love that song!! --Em. =))
Not my fault her songs are catchy.

I'm actually surprised you said wu-tang,, the greatest of rap,, in my books,, gotta love some 2pac,, you cant deny the fact that he had a lot to say, in the sickest and realist way
